Hospital Management
What can Siena Care contribute to hospital management?
Hospital management can only be optimized through maximizing the best analytical, effective and efficient technological and human resources available. Over the past 20 years, there have been many studies that have attempted to create, analyze and interpret performance indicators that can accurately gauge the success or failure of particular management strategies.
Although they have thus far produced no clear consensus on the methodology to follow, they unanimously conclude that incorporating new technologies is critical to the success of an organization. They note that incorporating new and innovative technologies brings great value both by optimizing resources and guaranteeing the efficient delivery of their services to clients.
It would seem that generating more data and utilizing new technology would require more work for medical personnel, but, in reality, the opposite is true!
SIENA Care enables data entry at the bedside. Both the Siena and IDRIS patient stations are equipped with an alphanumeric keypad which allows medical personnel to enter the patient's temperature, blood glucose, or simply indicate that a recovery has been made. In the past, personnel were required to jot down these values in notebooks and then later manually input these figures into the healthcare information system. This system avoids the unnecessary work and eliminates the possibility of transcription errors.
This system is a powerful tool for medical staff, because it is able to alert the medical personnel administering medication or performing care of automatically, without having to go to the nursing consultation "office". This not only greatly reduces staff stress and improves overall morale, but allows them to focus their efforts on their most important job: the care of patients.
What is not measured, cannot be improved
With the ability to record and save nursing care information, Siena Care is able to provide administrators more than specific data on current human and material resources. This system is able to save this data, which allows the staff to use this information during a patient’s future visits.
This information is critical to administrators who can utilize this information to plan for the future and be better prepared to allocate resources in an emergency. Decision making has never been an easy task. With SIENA Care, critical information, necessary to improve the quality of services, is always at administrators and health care professionals fingertips.
Every bed counts!
Handling large volumes of patients with a limited number of beds requires incredible administrative coordination. Requiring staff to navigate multiple floors, while consulting a single board for every new patient is an almost impossible task. The truth is that health personnel lose critical time discussing and inquiring about the availability of beds.
Our patient station allows staff to record bed occupations through a quick and easy process. The system allows bed availability information to be transferred in real time to the hospital information system- maximizing the organization’s resources and increasing overall staff performance. When new patients are taken in, each patient is logged in-room avoiding any possibility of error.
